If you haven’t heard of Freddie Flintoff before, that’s because you were probably never interested in Cricket. As far as Cricket players are concerned, Flintoff is a Cricket Guru – well, a former guru.
In a recent BBC5 Live podcast with Robbie Savage, Flintoff talked about his obsession with another podcast called “The Flat Earthers” – which claims that our beautiful Earth as we know is a myth created by Disney.
People have believed that the Earth was round since the Ancient Greek era
Apparently, the theory that Disney created the myth that the Earth is round holds water. Majority of Flat Earth theorists believe that our planet is not round and claim that the Earth is shaped like a disc.
Now, you might think to yourself: “I’ve seen Earth from space in plenty of movies. Even NASA makes live streams from the ISS. What are they talking about?” Setting movies aside, I’d still like to travel to the ISS in person and see the roundness of Earth.
NASA and other governments conspired against the world
I’m not saying that we’re living on a planet shaped like a disc, and I do know that the (potato) Earth is not really round – but why are millions of people under the impression thinking that we can actually fall off the edge of the planet?
Freddie explained this “mystery” on his show:
The pictures which you see, the horizon always appears flat. Apart from NASA pictures which some say could be doctored.
The theory with the flat Earth is, right, you got the Earth, and it’s round like a disc, not completely flat – it’s probably bulbous underneath.
In the middle of it is the North Pole. Bang in the middle. Round the outside is the South Pole.
He also gave some groundbreaking information:
If you’re in a helicopter and you hover why does the Earth not come to you if it’s round?
Why, if we’re hurtling through space, why would water stay still? Why is it not wobbling? Also if you fire a laser about 16 miles, if the world was curved, you shouldn’t be able to see it but you can.
The middle is the North Pole, around the outside is the South Pole which is like a big wall of ice. This is why all governments now have bases on the South Pole.
Freddie Flintoff tweeted on several occasions and claimed that he really is a “flat Earther”.

The 39-year-old Flintoff openly ignored satellite images that prove the Earth is spherical and he plans to invest additional funds into proving that the Earth really is flat.
